It’s generally assumed that over the course of it’s life a typical device will be dropped a total of 5-6 times, but here at GRiD we want to ensure that our equipment can comfortably hold up to the worst case scenario of 5 times that amount, just to be sure that nothing will go wrong when our devices are used out in the field.
So that’s exactly what we did, we took one of our tablets, the GRiDCASE 2530, through the infamous ‘Drop Test’ and dropped it from a height of 48” on every side, face and corner to see how it would hold up from wear and tear (albeit in an extremely sped up timescale) you can expect over a multi-year life span.
The test itself is part of a series of environmental and EMC tests that we put all of our devices through to ensure that they are safe and can be used by our customers without having to make special adjustments for them. This particular test can be performed by swapping out the device up to 5 times however we chose to keep the same device for the entire test so we can really see the capability of our kit.
Among a host of other qualifications it received in the week of testing, we are very happy to be able to say that the GRiDCASE 2530 survived the drop test with nothing but a few slight knocks and scratches to the paint work. There was no damage to any of the internals, the screen or the input devices which is testament to our design and workshop engineers.
