GRiD manufacture fully sealed, qualified, Rugged Laptops, Tablets and Servers for in-vehicle and quick-deploy applications. The GRiD product range is designed with no moving parts and sealed to a minimum of IP67 and in some cases IP68. Selected products have been tested to comply with Def Stan 59-411 for EMC and configured to withstand harsh environmental requirements such as Tracked Vehicle Vibration, Shock and variable temperature fluctuations to -40°C to +71°C Operating. GRiD products are also able to accept a DC input range of 9-36V and are compliant to the military vehicle standard MIL-STD-1275.

Quick Release

GRiD produce Mounting Brackets to suit individual applications and if required, can adapt existing Hardware mounting points to fall in line with specific customer configurations. All quick release Brackets and Cradles allow devices to be swiftly mounted or dismounted on the go, letting you adapt to the changing mission demands and circumstances as they happen.

Connectors and Interfaces

To ensure that products can be plug and play without the need to re-wire or re-cable your vehicle, we tailor the Connectors and Interfaces on their Rugged Computers so that they can connect directly to the vehicles existing cabling saving a significant time and cost. GRiD do not charge for this service as all of our products are tailored to the customers’ requirements as standard.

Shock / Vibration

To ensure that products survive and continue to operate in extreme environments, all internal electronics and components are securely mounted to the Chassis of the unit. There are also no moving parts within a GRiD system allowing products to pass tests such as Functional Shock (MIL-STD-810F, 40g, 11ms), Vibration (DEF STAN 00-35, Wheeled Vehicles and Trailers) and Transit Drop (MIL-STD-810F, Method 516.4, Procedure IV).

EMC and TEMPEST

GRiD products are manufactured for use in challenging tactical environments and have been qualified to both UK (Def Stan 59-411) and US (MIL-STD 461) EMC Standards.

Every GRiD Rugged Laptop, Tablet or Server is comprised of custom electronics and filtering to maintain extremely quiet EMC profiles. The entire product range is machined from solid aluminium tool plate to block electromagnetic fields and all associated cabling is fully shielded to prevent noise. Furthermore, GRiD Rugged Display Panels contain an EMC Window to avoid both Radiated Emissions and Radiated Susceptibility.

A number of our products are also fully qualified to TEMPEST SDIP-27, preventing the unintentional emission of data from any GRiD system. All GRiD products use the same design concepts and although they may not be fully aligned, TEMPEST capability is supported by the EMC performance of the product range in its entirety.

Our products are designed from the ground up for use in Vehicles. As well as being designed for survival in harsh environments with quiet EMC profiles, the Tablet is also designed with an internal DC-DC Power Supply meeting MIL-STD-1275. This prevents a need for a separate DC-DC Power Supply sitting outside the Tablet which would take up more space and add more cost.
